This project I completed this summer, my Modular 3D printed cases. Using the OMNI display case STL files and the required materials, I was able to create a sleek Illuminated showcase for my models and collectibles. The modular nature of the design allowed me to create different sizes for my needs.

Some of the components that were used in creating the cases.

Multiple modular pieces slot together and are held fast by various nuts and bolts. Acrylic is used for both the shelves and display. The acrylic is measures and cut to size manually. Finally, a LED strip is thread on the inside of the case to allow for lighting.

The backboard and bolted back frame pieces.

By measuring and cutting some hard board, we are able to create a backing for the case. Each modular piece of the back frame here is bolted in place.

The case will eventually have its shelves measured and cut so that they fit into modular slots on each mid piece. Following that a LED strip is thread through a hole in the back corner, allowing it to access an outlet.

The end product for my first, smaller case. The LED strips have different color and intensity levels, allowing you to change them through an app.

The side view allows a better view of the corner depth modular pieces, which hold the acrylic sides in between them. More pieces can be added to increase case depth. The cases are set on a routine via an app. They turn on at 8:30 AM and off at 10:00 PM everyday.

The Display Head On.

I originally had two separate power plugs, one for each case. However, I was able to strip the end of one and attach it to the second. This way only one outlet is needed, and cable management is cleaner.
